Friends,
You likely have received an email (if TAS has your email) from Allen Press today about resetting a password or about a subscription being added to your account. The letter isn’t junk! As of a few hours ago the Journal of the Tennessee Academy of Science is online! What does that mean?
1. While the executive board is considering changing the way we distribute print copies of the journal, it is still our policy to send out print copies of the journal. If you have thoughts on how we handle printing, please feel free to let me or one of the other executive committee members know.
2. Starting with Volume 94, issue 4 (the last issue) and going forward with volume 95 issue 1 (to be coming out shortly) all accepted articles will appear online and in print. We will try to work our way backwards as well, as funds allow.
3. All articles starting with volume 94, issue 4 will have a digital object identifier — a unique url that will help when citing articles and enable the journal to be indexed by scholarly indexes such as google scholar. This will increase the exposure for work published in the journal and make it easier to track citations and the impact of your work!
So what do you need to do to access the journal? You simply need to point your web browser to https://meridian.allenpress.com/jtas and log in (there is a button in the upper right). If you subscribe to other journals published by Allen Press you likely already know how to log in. But if this is your first journal subscription with Allen Press your user name is your email (the one you provide to TAS) and your password has been set to something random. To reset it just go here
If you have any issues Allen Press’s technical team are ready to help, but due to the holiday they will be out until Monday. They can be contacted using the webform here
Thanks for all your support and I look forward to more great things for the Journal,
Justin Oelgoetz

As you all know peer review is an important part of the scientific process. I currently have 4 articles under review, 2 of which I’m having a problem finding reviewers for (one in agriculture: animals, another in medical science). Without reviewers we can’t publish.
So my request: would you consider serving as a reviewer? If you would please reply to this email and let me know your name, title, highest relevant degree, and what fields you think you would be competent in. Think not just broadly (like Physics, Medical Science, Agriculture or Biology — although if you feel up to reviewing any Physics paper, feel free to says so!) but think about what undergraduate classes you would feel comfortable teaching and try to cobble together as broad of topic categories as you can (like say Agriculture: Crops, or Biology:Animals, or Biology:Vertebrates). In addition to adding you to the stable of reviewers, I’ll use your responses to help frame new categories for papers going forward.
If you are already a reviewer or have already volunteered, please reply and tell me your areas too — lots of folks int he database don’t list areas, and I can’t claim to know everyone. The update will help!
Thanks in advance,
Justin Oelgoetz
